Etched Wine Glasses

Today we are making etched wine glasses! I promise it’s not complicated, but it has a nice wow factor. These are so easy to customize for anyone on your gift list! After I explain the process, I will share suggestions on how to mix it up.

Here are the basic supplies you will need:
Wine Glass
Paintbrush
Rubbing Alcohol
Armour Etch Cream (This is the magic ingredient. There may be other brands of etching cream but this is the only one I’ve tried.)
Template -optional

Here's what you do:

To get started, thoroughly wash the glass with soap and warm water. Use a paper towel to dry it off.

If you are using a template, apply it to the inside of the glass. See the photo to the right for reference.

Rub the area to be etched with alcohol to make sure there are no fingerprints, smudges, or debris. Give it a minute or so to dry.

Now you are ready to start etching. Using a small paintbrush, paint your design onto the glass using the cream like a paint.

Some things to remember:
-The cream dries pretty quickly, so take your time painting the design.
-Everywhere the cream makes contact with glass will be etched.
-If your design is a little different from your template, no one will know but you.

When your design is all done, let it dry for about 5 minutes (or for how long the label recommends).
Rinse off the cream with soap and water.

And you’re done! How easy was that?!

Here are some suggestions for customizing this project:
-Use different types of drinkware- glass mugs, glasses, or even bowls
-Etch the name of the recipient onto a vase or picture frame.
-Use a sticky stencil for your design instead of painting it.

There really are so many ways to make this a special gift! I want to see what you come up with. Don’t forget to share it with us through the comments or on Instagram!
